Instructions for Use
1. Prepare the Vehicle: Wash the car thoroughly and dry completely before beginning the claying process.
2. Cut the Clay Bar: Cut the clay bar into smaller, manageable segments for easier handling.
3. Prepare Lubricant: Use a trigger spray with a rich solution of water mixed with wash and wax, or for maximum effect, use just water as a lubricant. Never use clay on a dry surface.
4. Lubricate the Area: Spray a small area of approximately 1 square foot with your chosen lubricant.
5. Clay the Surface: Glide the clay bar over the lubricated surface using straight back and forth sweeping motions. Do not use circular motions.
6. Maintain Fresh Clay: As the clay becomes dirty, rinse it in clean water and keep folding the bar over itself to reveal a fresh, clean surface.
7. Inspect Your Work: Dry the area with a microfibre cloth and check that the surface feels perfectly smooth. Repeat the process if necessary.
8. Finish with Wax: Complete the job by applying a liberal amount of high quality wax polish to protect the freshly decontaminated paintwork.
Important Cautions
· Work in the Shade: Always carry out claying in the shade. Never work in direct sunlight as the lubricant will evaporate too quickly and the surface may become too hot.
· Never Drop the Clay: Under no circumstances must the clay bar be dropped on the ground, whether indoors or outdoors. Dropped clay will pick up grit that can cause severe scratching. If dropped, discard immediately.
· Always Use Lubricant: Never use your clay bar on a dry painted surface without adequate lubricant. This will cause marring and scratching.
· Pre-Wash Thoroughly: Always make sure all excess dirt is washed off the surface before beginning the claying process.
· Keep Away from Children: Store clay bars safely out of reach of children.
Why Clay Your Paintwork
Over time, your vehicle's paintwork accumulates bonded contaminants that regular washing cannot remove. These contaminants create a rough texture, reduce gloss, and prevent waxes and sealants from bonding properly. Claying removes these embedded particles, restoring a perfectly smooth surface that enhances shine and allows protective products to perform at their best.
Applications
· Removing industrial fallout and rail dust
· Eliminating tree sap and insect residue
· Preparing paint for polishing or ceramic coating
· Removing overspray from paintwork
· Restoring smooth texture to neglected paint
· Professional and enthusiast detailing
After Use
After claying, store unused portions of clay bar in a sealed bag or container in a cool, dry place. Keep away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Proper storage will maintain the clay's consistency and effectiveness for future use.
